Temperatures are cooling and many will be clinking their glasses toasting to the festivities. Below you'll find inspiration for creating some delicious winter cocktails. Whether you're more of a tequila drinker or prefer a splash of Jamaican rum, we've got you covered. And for a special occasion, why not opt for sparkling champagne? If you're looking for something non-alcoholic, you can also remove the alcohol from these recipes and ramp up the aromatics and garnish. Whatever your preference, these cocktails are sure to make your winter celebrations extra special.

Cranberry Margerita

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 oz/15ml tequila
  • 1 oz /30ml Cointreau
  • 3/4 oz/45ml lime juice
  • 2 oz/60ml cranberry juice
  • garnish: cranberries, dried orange slice
  • glass rim: lime juice, salt

Method:

Rim your glass with lime juice and salt. Combine all your liquid ingredients, shake and pour over ice. Garnish.

Rum Rum Rudolph

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz/60ml Jamaican rum
  • 1/2 oz/15ml ruby port
  • 1/2 oz/15ml cranberry syrup
  • 1/2 oz/15ml lemon
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 dash Angostura bitters
  • garnish: nutmeg, cranberry

Method:

Dry shake all liquid ingredients. Shake with ice and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with nutmeg and cranberry.

Christmas Spritzer

Ingredients:

  • 1 red pear
  • 1 green apple
  • 1 honey crisp apple
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 cup/120ml pear nectar
  • 1/4 cup/60ml honey syrup
  • 1 bottle sauvignon blanc
  • garnish: sprig of rosemary

Method:

Combine all ingredients into a large jug and chill for at least 2 hours. Serve in the glass of your choice, topped with sparkling water and a sprig of rosemary.

Clementine Buck's Fizz

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 oz/15ml sloe gin
  • 1/2 oz/15ml fino sherry
  • 2 1/2 oz/75ml clementine juice
  • 2 1/2 oz/75ml champagne
  • garnish: blackberry, rosemary

Method:

Over ice pour the gin, sherry, and juice. Stir and strain into a champagne glass. Top with champagne and garnish with a blackberry and rosemary.

Mombai Mule

From the London bar Mrs Fogg's

Ingredients:

  • 1 2/3 oz/50ml Cardamom-infused Russian Standard Original vodka
  • 3/4 oz/ 25ml pear puree
  • 1 1/2 oz/50ml apple juice
  • 1/2 oz/15ml fresh lime juice
  • 1/3 oz/10ml cinnamon syrup
  • 2 2/3 oz/80ml of ginger beer

Method:

Infuse 20 green cardamom seeds in 70cl of Russian Standard Original for five hours. Then remove the seeds from the bottle. In a mug or glass of your choice, add plenty of ice and combine all of the ingredients, saving the ginger beer for last. Garnish with curly parsley, dried apple, and a dash of icing sugar.
